Hallowed Be All-Hallows-Eve
Just in time for October 31, we’re thrilled to be announcing a brand new PDF scenario release for Cthulhu Eternal. This one may be our most anticipated scenario of the year — Kevin Ross’ lost classic “The House on the Promontory”. Originally we were hoping to host a big premiere event for this “lost classic” adventure at an online convention a few days ago, but sadly that wasn’t to be … so we have gone ahead with our original plan of unleashing it on the world on All Hallows Eve. It’s available right now over on DriveThruRPG.
This scenario has quite the history to it. I am sure that most readers would know that Kevin Ross has a long history of published Lovecraftian game scenarios — including some of the most highly claimed ever written. But prior to his first published scenarios (in 1989’s “The Great Old Ones”) Kevin wrote several adventures which have never seen the light of day. “The House on the Promontory” is the longest of these early pieces, as far as I am aware.
We have taken the original 1980s manuscript for this scenario and translated its game-stuff across to work with Cthulhu Eternal Jazz Age, but have tried not to tweak anything else that might ruin the strongly “Old School Lovecraftian” vibe that this vintage piece exudes like a squamous miasma.
If you’re on the lookout for a genuinely old-school Lovecraftian adventure (written in the 80s), this might be the nightmare scenario to share with your friends. Alternatively it might be the nostalgia vibe that reminds you why you got into this hobby all those decades ago.
The PDF for the scenario (accompanied by a bunch of digital asset that will help if you’re running on a VTT) is available right now over on DTRPG. Visit the House … if you dare.
